Addressing the councilors during the Bo City Council Monthly Meeting held at the Council’s Chamber on Tuesday, Mr. Kallay said that the project focuses on people between 15-35 years and will provide vocational training to marginalized young people whiles at the same time building the capacity of youth and civil society organizations to engage local authorities on issues of youth employment and vocational education.
“The project also aims at bringing greater government responsiveness to youth employment issues, to address poverty and social exclusion among young people,” Mr. Kallay said. He added that the project seeks to ensure the implementation of existing youth policies and encourage greater public participation among youths in local decision making, scrutiny of local government expenditure and development plans.
According to him, youth advocacy groups will be established in Bo, Kenema, Makeni and Freetown comprising selected trained youth leaders. He said that peace clubs will also be set-up in schools.
