We predicted it, but nobody took us seriously. We said it was quite impossible for Lukuley to deliver Constituency 91, let alone the whole of Pujehun to the APC, as he had promised. We had good reasons for saying what we said. If we were not sure of what we were saying we would not have put it in print for the whole world to read.

When you see a tiger in the jungle going around telling the animals that it is a tiger, so other animals should be afraid of him, you can be sure it is not a real tiger. For a real tiger does not proclaim its tigritude: it pounces. Wherever a tiger passes in the jungle, you see the skeletons of the duiker. Wherever a tiger passes you see the lesser animals running for cover.

                     The media in Sierra Leone- in collective terms has had its successes and headaches over the last two decades; presumably heightened by ten years of civil strive (1991 through to 2001). During this time both rebels and government functionaries saw the media as a third enemy force. Some ten journalists and three media-support staff lost their lives. By 1999, Sierra Leone had had an unenviable accolade of the worst place in the world to practice journalism.
